Perth
Perth is the capital city of Western Australia with a population that is over 1.5 million, Perth is the fourth most populated capital city. Western Australia is also the biggest state; it takes up almost one third of Australia.
Summers in Perth are usually hot and dry with high temperatures averaging 25°C, the hottest month is February. Most of the rainfall occurs in winter and the season remains moderately cool and wet with low temperatures averaging around 13°C.
The Perth Cultural Centre located in central Perth has the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts and the Western Australian Museum.
The Perth International Arts Festival is the oldest running international arts festival in Australia. It was established in 1953 by the University of Western Australia and runs for three weeks in February. The event brings attention to local artists from all mediums, showcasing their work on a worldwide level as well as inviting international artists to join in on the festivities.
