Melbourne
Melbourne is the capital city of Victoria, the second most populated city in Australia. This city is recognised as one of the cultural capitals of the world and has been the host city to important international events such as 1956 Summer Olympics, World Economic Forum in 2000, the 2006 Commonwealth Games and the G20 Summit also in 2006.
The climate in Melbourne is almost as famous as the city itself, the day to day weather can be hard to predictable. Though the seasons are usually cooler than other Australian capitals, Melbourne has experienced extreme heat during summer and holds the record of the hottest day. On the 7th of February 2009 the temperature rose to 46.4°C. Melbourne mainly experiences fog and frost in its winters but snowfall is uncommon.
As a recognised international capital and one of the biggest international student communities in the world, Melbourne has a wide variety of annual cultural events.
Here are just a few of the biggest festivals in both Melbourne and Australia:

It is a fortnight-long event in March, celebrating internationally inspired local food and wine. This festival is one of the largest of its kind in the world and has been around since 1993.
